Restos du CΕur: Student Food Distribution
Free grocery distribution and hot meals. Many centres run dedicated student sessions. You collect a basket of staples (pasta, rice, tinned veg, milk, hygiene products) every week.
CROUS β¬1 Meals
A full three course meal for β¬1 at any CROUS restaurant. Main, starter or dessert, and bread. The single best daily food deal for students in France.
AGORAΓ©: Solidarity Grocery Stores
A solidarity grocery run by students. Products cost between 10 and 20 percent of the normal price, and the social space serves free tea, coffee and events.
Linkee & Food Bank Distributions
Volunteers hand out free food baskets near campuses. Fresh produce, bread and bakery surplus. Bring a tote bag.
PIX: Free Digital Skills Certification
France's official digital skills certification. Build and certify competencies across office tools, data and online safety. A real CV asset, completely free.
OpenClassrooms: Free Course Track
A French edtech platform with free courses in tech, business and design. Many are in English, and you get shareable certificates of completion.
Free French Classes (Cours de FranΓ§ais)
Free French lessons run by municipalities and associations, often costing just a few euros a term. The fastest way to reach the level your titre de sΓ©jour may require.
Voltaire / Bureautique Workshops
Free workshops on French spelling (preparing you for the Certificat Voltaire) and office software, run by university career services. Bookable in a few clicks.
Free Museum Entry (Under 26, EU resident)
If you're under 26 and resident in the EU (your titre de sΓ©jour counts), permanent collections at national museums are 100 percent free. One of the best perks of student life here.
Pass Culture (β¬300 for eligible students)
Government cultural credit to spend on books, concerts, cinema and museums through an app. Eligibility depends on age and residency. Worth checking.
Free First Sunday Museums
Dozens of museums open free on the first Sunday of the month. A great option for anyone over 26 who misses the under 26 rule.
Imagine R: Heavily Subsidised Transport
Not free, but ~60% off the standard Navigo: unlimited travel across all zones for about β¬350/year. Some regions reimburse part of it.
Free Bla Bla / Carpool Credits
Carpooling platforms run student promotions at the start of term. Free or discounted first rides for getting around between cities cheaply.
Free Student Health Centres (SSU/SSE)
Campus health services offer free GP visits, vaccinations, contraception and mental health support, funded by the CVEC you already paid.
Free Psychological Support (SantΓ© Psy)
Up to 12 fully covered sessions with a partner psychologist per year, with no upfront payment. Referral via a doctor or campus service.
CVEC Refund for Scholarship Holders
If you hold a CROUS scholarship you're exempt from the β¬100 CVEC. You can reclaim it if charged. Keep your attestation.
Free Bank Account & Student RIB
Several online banks offer genuinely free student accounts with a RIB for CAF and a card. No minimum balance, no monthly fee.
Pay your β¬1 at the CROUS RU, register at your campus health centre, and set up a free PIX account. All in week one.
