Gross Salary (Salaire Brut)

Zone 1

This is your contracted monthly salary before any deductions. When a French company offers you '48k', they mean 48,000 EUR Gross (Brut) per year.

  • Divide your annual gross by 12 to get the monthly figure: 48,000 / 12 = 4,000 EUR.
  • Forfait Jours (218 days) means you're paid per day worked, not per hour. As a Cadre, you don't track hours (no 35h/week limit).
  • This is NOT what hits your bank account. About 23% will be deducted for social contributions, then income tax on top.
  • Some companies pay over 13 or 14 months (prime de 13ème mois). Your annual stays the same, but monthly amounts differ.
The Math
Annual: 48,000 EUR / 12 months = 4,000 EUR/month Gross
Indian Context

In India, CTC includes employer PF, gratuity, and perks. In France, Brut is ONLY your share. The employer pays an additional ~45% on top of your Brut in hidden charges (the 'Super-Brut'). So a 48k Brut actually costs the company about 70k.
